What's the importance of equity within high impact educational experiences?
Research has shown that certain activities make a big difference in student success post-graduation. Kuh’s (2008) work on the critical importance of engaged learning, also known as High Impact Practices, has shaped the undergraduate university experience. However, a 2013 report released by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) illuminated an educational disparity in many students’ access to the full college experience. The report found that underserved/underrepresented students had a lower participation rate in High Impact Practices in comparison to students who did not identify as underserved/underrepresented. The goal of this scholarship is to help close that gap.
